Cheetos pop-up restaurant to open this weekend in New York

Thought Cheetos were nothing more than an incredibly cheese junk food treat? Well you thought wrong.

The much-loved chips will get a very gourmet upgrade this weekend, serving as the central ingredient at a dedicated Cheetos pop-up restaurant which is due to open at a bar in New York City, starting on Saturday 12 August.

But this Cheetos-focused eatery won’t simply be dishing up big bags of the chips, instead the brightly-colored orange snack has been incorporated into a variety of delicious dishes, including starters, entrees – and even desserts.

Food Network star Anne Burrell is the brain behind the Tribeca pop-up’s fancy food, which is sure to impress Cheetos connoisseurs with its elegant presentation.

The menu at The Spotted Cheetah restaurant, which is being housed at the Distilled Bar, includes traditional dishes such as Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Mac n’ Cheese and is priced between $8 and $22.

It also offers Cheetos grilled cheese , but there’s a kick: its served with a Cheetos-rimmed glass of tomato soup.

But the biggest Cheetos fans can indulge in more risky dangerously cheesy meals such as fried green tomatoes covered in Cheetos dust, Flamin’ Hot Limón Chicken Tacos and Cheetos-infused meatballs with ricotta.

As for dessert, the Spotted Cheetah’s menu includes cheesecake crusted with Sweetos, the Cheetos-cinnamon sugar pops, and apple-filled crepes made with White Cheddar Cheetos.

Not surprisingly, Cheetos fans have already reserved all seating, which was described as ‘limited’.

But although you can’t enjoy the cheesy experiment without a reservation, there is a wait-list that Cheetos’ mascot Chester Cheetah encourages fans to join.

And in case that doesn’t work out, you can make the meals yourself when the Spotted Cheetah releases its recipes on August 15th.
