- Eager cooks have posted pictures of their food online – but really shouldn’t have
- Disgusting meals feature a smoothie that looks like sewage and a gross sausage
- They have all been re-posted in a Reddit thread dedicated to unappetising food
Even if you fancy yourself a dab hand in the kitchen, you will probably have suffered a cooking catastrophe at least once before.
But those mistakes will have been nothing compared to the ineptitude of these hapless chefs, who have shared stomach-churning photographs of their terrible home-cooked food.
Often, these eager cooks have posted pictures of their disgusting dinners on social media as they believe they have cooked up a sumptuous feast.
From a smoothie that looks like sewage and a soup that looks like dirty water, to a chicken that looks like it’s been roasted in a septic tank, these are the worst home cooking fails to be shared online.
And they may well put you off your lunch.

Someone proudly posted this photo (left) of a pizza covered in goat’s cheese, barbecue chicken and vegetables on Reddit – but they probably shouldn’t have as users mocked it for looking a mess. On the right is in fact a smoothie, not the contents of someone’s sewer
This roast chicken has been cooked with black lentils, kale and onions but it looks very much like it has been baked in a septic tank, unfortunately
One chef claims the dish on the left is shrimp wonton with ramen and eggs but it’s alarmingly colourless. Meanwhile Reddit users also shared a photo of some very thin soup that looks like dirty water (right)
Pass me the sick bucket. A son shared a photo of the stomach-churning lunch his dad was eating that day of fish with cream of mushroom soup and corn served on toast
One man says he sent this photo (left) of unappealing poached eggs on top of smeared muddied avocado to his chef father – who obviously didn’t respond (probably in disgust). Meanwhile one Reddit user found this gross meal of creamed spinach with some sort of meat on one thread (right)
This image went viral this week on Twitter after a user said it was a classic childhood dish for British people – but people said it looked more like cat vomit. It later transpired the user who posted the image was a professional troll who was joking
Don’t show this picture to any Italians! This chef served up spaghetti with hot dogs, ketchup and mayonnaise: an inexplicable combination
Ice cream is traditionally served with desserts such as jelly but one chef served his treat with baked beans instead. Another chef proudly posted their dish of chicken ‘roman’ with cubes of cheese – but they should probably have kept the image to themselves
One cook attempted to make this delicious-looking blueberry fudge on the left, but instead ended up with a gloppy mess
