Utah’s top-paying job, surprisingly, helps children and families.
Financial resource website HowMuch.net created a new graphic that shows every state’s highest-paying job based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Health care-centric jobs dominated the list.
“In every state, the highest annual wage belongs to professions in the health care sector, even states that are more remote,” Howmuch.net reports. “This is likely due to both the demand for and price of health care services in the United States, as well as the years of education required to hold these professions.”
The five highest annual wages across all states included anesthesiologists in Kansas ($287,410); orthodontists in Alabama ($287,250); surgeons in New Jersey ($286,710) and Nebraska ($285,640); and anesthesiologists in North Dakota ($285,290).
In Utah, pediatricians led the way.
Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, food preparers topped the list for lowest-paid job in several states.
