In light of the coronavirus pandemic, skincare brands like Tatcha and retailers like Sephora have closed their stores. But worry not because you can satisfy all your skincare needs with ingredients sitting right in your kitchen. That’s right! The same bananas that are going into your yummy smoothies, the same honey that’s sweetening your tea, and the same yogurt that’s your favorite social distancing mid-day snack can all play a major role in your DIY skincare routine.

Here are five DIY face masks you can make right in the comfort of your own home that can combat acne, exfoliate, brighten, and more. But, before you run to grab your ingredients, make sure you leave enough to actually eat and nourish your bodies during this time!

Turmeric and Yogurt — To Maintain Your Radiant Skin

We all love a good glow. If you get your finishing dewy glow from a moisturizer or luminous face oil, put those on hold for a little while and try some DIY masks to achieve the same glow instead. Turmeric is an essential spice that contains antioxidants that can improve the skin’s luster, in addition to keeping bacteria at bay because, yes, it has antibacterial properties. By pairing this spice with yogurt (preferably a greek or non-flavored yogurt), it will instantly add a brightening glow to your skin while benefiting from yogurt’s rejuvenating and moisturizing benefits.

“Turmeric is an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties that even out skin tone and gives you a healthy glow,” says dermatologist Dr. Marina Peredo. “The yogurt will also help to reduce any redness. This mask will last up to a week in the fridge.” If you’re not a big fan of yogurt, honey works just as effectively when mixed with turmeric!
