7 Black Depop Sellers On Their Success

Being an entrepreneur is a journey that no one is ever really ready for, but Depop in partnership with the Black in Fashion Council is hoping to help change that for Black Depop designers and sellers. The shopping app, which has become the go-to destination for buying, selling, and discovering secondhand and indie fashion amongst Gen Z, is now working with BIFC to give their sellers access to leading creatives in the industry. From designers like Anifa Mvuemba of Hanifa to costume designers like June Ambrose, BIFC and Depop have teamed up to create a series of talks and conversations that not only celebrate Black culture’s impact on fashion but empower a new generation of creatives.

Teen Vogue caught up with seven Black Depop sellers to chat about their journey to entrepreneurship, how Depop has been a great resource for them, and tips for future Black creatives who aspire to sell clothing on Depop.

Eniola Kolawole, 24, New York, She/They

Eniola, best known as @enithingiwant on Depop, fell in love with selling on the app because “it not only helped me launch my entrepreneurial life aspirations but has also been a great facilitator of so many awesome relationships,” she says. From her Depop success, she now has her own business, EniThingIWant where she promotes “living a spiritually aligned and empowered life while co-creating with amazing artists from different walks of life.” Depop has been a strong “stepping stone” in her process to centering her life on joy, love, peace, and a sense of purpose. Eniola’s tips to sellers are:  Wear the piece as part of an outfit to really bring it to life, use natural lighting when possible, and don’t just buy what you think will re-sell! Be playful and true to your unique quirks and style.
