Don’t even think about trying to score a run when Mike Soroka is on the mound.

The Atlanta Braves right-hander continued to dazzle Wednesday with another outstanding start. Soroka allowed just three hits over seven shutout frames in a 4-0 win against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals.

Soroka’s latest scoreless outing made him the first pitcher in MLB history to allow one or fewer earned runs in nine of his first 11 career starts, according to Sportsnet Stats.

”What I like about this kid is he doesn’t panic. He just goes pitch to pitch,” Braves manager Brian Snitker said, according to The Associated Press. ”That’s a great trait for a young pitcher to have.”

The 21-year-old surrendered four earned runs in a pair of starts during his abbreviated 2018 season. Aside from those two aberrations, he’s been brilliant in the majors thus far.

Wednesday’s start lowered Soroka’s ERA to a sensational 0.98 over his first six appearances of 2019.
