“Bridgerton” Star Regé-Jean Page to Make “SNL” Hosting Debut

Dear reader, Lady Whistledown here with some exciting news about Bridgerton’s very own Regé-Jean Page. The Netflix series’ leading man will be gracing the Saturday Night Live studios for the very first time on February 20, where he will make his hosting debut.

Regé-Jean shared the announcement on social media this weekend, also revealing that he’ll appear on next week’s episode alongside musical guest Bad Bunny. “Saturday night,” he wrote in the caption along with a star emoji.

The February 20th episode will mark Regé-Jean’s first time hosting the iconic comedy show, and we can only hope there will be a Bridgerton-themed sketch involved. After all, the series, based on the novels by Julia Quinn, quickly became Netflix’s biggest launch ever, with 82 million households tuning in, and is the streaming service’s fifth most popular series ever. And with Season 2 on the horizon, there’s no doubt that the ~burning~ hype is still going strong.

It remains unclear how Daphne (portrayed by Phoebe Dynevor) and Regé-Jean’s Simon will fit into the show’s second season, given that the next chapter follows Daphne’s older brother Anthony, but series creator Chris Van Dusen remains optimistic. “They are now of course the Duke and Duchess of Hastings but in my mind they will always be Bridgertons and I think they will always be part of the show,” Van Dusen told Deadline when asked if Daphne and Simon will return next season.

As for the stars, they seem to be in the dark about the plot as well, with Phoebe also sharing that she isn’t sure how filming would work amid COVID-19. “There are so many extras and so many crew members, and it’s a very intimate show,” she explained to Deadline in January. “It just baffles me how we would film it under Covid rules unless there was a vaccine beforehand.”

While the details of Season 2 have yet to be determined, at least there’s one thing to look forward to: more Regé-Jean on our TV screens in just a matter of days.
