Fin Argus & Sabrina Carpenter on ‘Clouds’

Get your tissues ready…

If you’re anything like us, you absolutely balled your eyes out when you watched Disney+’s “Clouds,” and then balled your eyes out even more when you listened to the soundtrack afterwards. If you haven’t seen the streaming service’s equal parts heartbreaking and heartwarming movie, the film follows the real-life story of 17-year-old Zach Sobiech on his fight against terminal illness.

And we weren’t the only ones moved beyond belief! The movie’s stars Fin Argus and Sabrina Carpenter‘s (who play Zach and Sammy) recently opened up about the important life lessons they discovered while bringing Zach’s legacy to life on screen:

Fin: “Zach’s resounding phrase [is] “You don’t have to find out you’re dying to start living.” And of course, that’s something I’ve internalized. After spending three months just in Zach’s mind and trying to figure out exactly what he was feeling when he was going through that, it helped me to have a really positive perspective on loss and grief, which has become an invaluable tool for me, just as a person. And it makes me see the world with wonder. I go out and I listen to the birds tweeting and think, wow it’s a beautiful day. I need to get in focus on those little things. And that’s what Zach was all about, the little things.”

Sabrina: “There was almost like, for me, a big distinction between before “Clouds” and after “Clouds,” BC/AC. But actually, it really is a story that resonates with you. It sticks with you for a really long time. I think for me the biggest takeaway was gratitude and using that in every single aspect of your life…It’s really about appreciating moments while you’re in them…There’s a montage at the end that I didn’t know was going to be there that literally broke me…I was not ready to confront my emotions like that. And it just kind of all clicked with me, like how much the story had sunk into my bones, and just my being, and how much it really inspired me, gives me chills thinking about it, how full-circle one person that was inspired one day and made one song has transcended so much time and so many people and has uplifted so many people in this world.”
