Florida State senior John Pak wins Ben Hogan Award

Add another postseason honor to John Pak’s resume.

The Florida State senior has been named the 2021 recipient of the Ben Hogan Award Presented by PNC Bank. The award is based on a player’s collegiate, amateur and professional accomplishments over the previous 12-month period. Pak was announced as the 2021 winner on Friday at a luncheon at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, that honored the three finalists, which also included Georgia’s Davis Thompson and Texas’ Pierceson Coody.

Pak, who wrapped up his career at Florida State earlier this week with a fifth-place individual finish at the NCAA Championship, becomes the first ACC player to win the Hogan Award since Clemson’s Kyle Stanley won in 2009.

The past month has been eventful for Pak, who hails from Scotch Plains, New Jersey, as he represented the victorious U.S. team at the Walker Cup, played at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Florida. Days later, he led his team to victory at home at the NCAA Regional, finishing fourth individually. Florida State advanced to the quarterfinals at the national championship before bowing out in match play at the hands of eventual champion Pepperdine

Pak won eight times while at Florida State, which tied the program record. Last fall, he earned low amateur honors at the U.S. Open. He is ranked No. 1 individually by Golfweek, and is No. 4 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Pak also was extended the first invitation into the PGA Tour’s 2022 CharleSchwab Challenge from tournament chairman Jim Whitten.

Earlier this week, Pak was also named the Haskins Award winner.
