Between protections put into place due to the the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, and security measures taken following the insurrection at the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob earlier this month, Joe Biden’s inauguration is going to look a significantly different from those in years past. But it will be an inauguration, and a transition of power none-the-less.

Notably, there will not be a parade following in the swearing-in ceremony, but rather a virtual celebration to keep crowds to a minimum. Using the program at the Democratic National Convention last year as a jumping off point, the inaugural committee shares that the digital event will “celebrate America’s heroes, highlight Americans from all walks of life in different states and regions, and reflect on the diversity, heritage, and resilience of the country as we begin a new American era,” and will have the theme: “America United.”

If you’d like to watch Biden take the oath of office, here’s what you need to know:

When and where is the inauguration?

Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration will officially begin at noon ET on Wednesday, January 20, but coverage of the day starts much earlier.

How can I watch?

The inauguration is expected to be covered live by every major news network, including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, PBS, CNN, and MSNBC. Many of them will also offer livestreams of coverage on their websites. C-SPAN will also stream the event online, and on the day of the inauguration, we will update this post with a feed.
