John Wall: I Feel Like I’m The Best Shot-Blocking Point Guard Of All Time

John Wall has been spectacular in his first two games as a member of the Houston Rockets. After going nearly two years without playing in a game, he looks as if he hasn’t skipped a beat when it comes to on-court performance.

Through these two games, Wall has blocked three shots, which is pretty impressive for a point guard. In his career, he’s blocked 399 total shots which is good for 48th among active NBA players and 4th among active guards behind LeBron James, Danny Green and James Harden. Wall has played significantly less games than any of these three guards ahead of him.

After a solid start to the season defensively, Wall spoke with Mark Berman of Fox 26 and the media, about his thoughts on where he sits among point guards when it comes to blocking shots.

“I feel like I’m the best shot-blocking point guard of all time. Since I stepped foot in the league.”

This isn’t the first time Wall has made this claim, as he also said the same thing back in 2017. It’s a bold statement but Wall truly does have impressive career numbers relative to other point guards in the NBA.

Wall would go on to say, “When I’m healthy, I can be a lockdown defender.”

If he is able to get to full strength and be disruptive on both ends of the court, Wall will fit in perfectly with the Rockets. Houston is 2-0 in games that Wall has played in while he has produced 25.0 points, 7.5 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per contest. If he is able to keep this up, he could be looking at one of the best seasons of his career at age 30.

This is just the second team John Wall has played for in the NBA after being selected by the Washington Wizards with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. As he begins a new chapter of his career in Houston, things are off to a good start.
