John Wall: ‘I Feel Like Now I’m the Franchise Guy’


John Wall has been spectacular in his first season back from injury. After missing on-court action for over 700 days, Wall made his debut this for the Houston Rockets after being traded away from the Washington Wizards This was his first time playing since December of 2018. 

As the leader of the team, the 30-year-old point guard has been one of the most consistent players on the roster after James Harden was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. Wall recently spoke to Mark Berman of Fox 26 in Houston, giving his take on his role with the Rockets. 

“I feel like now I’m the franchise guy since James has left…I feel like that’s my job, to be the leader of this Rockets team.”

Houston is 9-5 this season when Wall plays, including a recent six-game win streak when he was in the active lineup. He’s averaging 18.8 points, 6.0 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game this season. Defensively, he’s also been great, totalling 13 steals and 11 blocks through 14 games.
