A local news anchor and reporter shared what her hectic early (very early) morning routine is like.
Lauren Zenzie is a mother of two who works at FOX61 News in Hartford, Conn. She gave a look at what just a small part of her day was like. There was no shortage of multitasking and prioritizing.
Zenzie woke up at 2:00 AM, saying that the alarm “hits different” now that she has a baby and a toddler. After driving to work, she joked that she was off to hair and makeup.
“That’s probably the biggest myth about local news. Almost all reporters and anchors, we do our own hair and makeup,” she said.
While getting ready, she usually looks over scripts, makes edits and works with the producers to go over any pronunciations.
Zenzie explained heavier makeup is a requirement for appearing on-screen, so primping can be an arduous task.
“The getting ready process for TV is like a construction project, it’s messy along the way, but the end result speaks for itself,” she said.
Afterward, she curled her hair with an iron, got dressed and headed off to the news desk. It was like the reporter had a full day of work before work even began.
