Have you ever thought to yourself, “Hmm, I wonder what it would sound like if Meghan Trainor sang ‘All About That Bass’ to the tune of Billie Eilish’s ‘Bad Guy?’” Well, even if that’s not a thought that’s crossed your brain, buckle up, because you’re about to find out!
On January 8, Meghan stopped by BBC Radio 1 where she was tasked with performing her 2014 hit as a “Bad Guy” remix, complete with Billie’s rhythmic beat and electronic sounds in the background. While you might not initially think “All About That Bass” would work against Billie’s sound, the song actually takes on an edgier, darker vibe when sung to the “Bad Guy” music. Can we get a full remix, or maybe a collab between these two, stat?
Meghan herself even got caught up in the moment, pausing at one point while singing to laugh and admit “I just got lost…this is a f*cking bop.” You can say that again!
The 26-year-old later took to Instagram to share a clip of the song, tagging Billie along with her signature green heart emoji. “I ? @billieeilish so much,” Meghan wrote alongside the video.
It might take a minute before the “Xanny” singer takes note of the tribute; according to Billie’s IG, she’s currently enjoying some down time on vacation. “Been gone,” she captioned a recent photo series showing off various activities from ziplining to jumping into a lake.
As for Meghan, she’s been pretty busy as well. The singer-songwriter is gearing up to release her third album on January 31, titled Treat Myself. She initially announced the album in November 2019, writing on Instagram at the time: “We’ve worked so hard to bring this album to life and I cannot wait to finally share it with the world.”
