Do you miss former First Lady Michelle Obama? Same. However, it’ll soon be much easier to get your Michelle fix, as her highly-anticipated new series, A Year of Firsts, is set to air on…Instagram!
Yes, you read that right — no Hulu, Netflix, HBO, or any other streaming service is required, just your phone. Forbes reports that A Year of Firsts, a show about four first-year college students tackling their freshman year, will debut on IGTV from mid-January to June.
The students featured are from North Dakota, Alabama, California, and Washington, D.C., and the show will follow them as they experience the growth and change of freshman year, from finances to friendship to all-night study sessions. The show is made in partnership with ATTN as well as Obama’s Reach Higher program, which works to help students pursue higher education.
“As a first-generation college student myself, I know how intimidating it can be to take that leap and pursue your educational dreams,” the former First Lady said in a statement. “That’s why I’m so proud of these students. By sharing their stories, they’re helping others see that the ups and downs of the first year of college are something everyone goes through — and they’re creating a supportive community for others facing similar challenges.”
The new show is another one of Obama’s post-White House projects, following on the heels of her bestselling memoir, Becoming. (Her youngest daughter, Sasha, headed off to college herself last fall.) Michelle is keeping busy; she and former President Barack Obama are also reportedly producing a documentary for Netflix, so hopefully we’ll be seeing a lot more of the former First Lady this year.
