Crocs are a polarizing shoe indeed and fashion icon Naomi Campbell has strong feelings on the foam footwear.
While some think the foam footwear is the most hideous thing they’ve ever seen, countless others wear them with pride — and comfort. (There’s a reason they’re a favorite of chefs, gardeners, and nurses.) Naomi Campbell is definitely in team “No Crocs” and she made her feelings known in a recent Hot Ones interview.
As noted by Nylon, Naomi was asked — between bites of super-hot wings — about which fashion trends she thinks are classic, and which ones she thinks are ridiculous. The supermodel cited the little black dress as a classic, saying it’s “never going out of style,” but she couldn’t say the same about Crocs. “I’m not into Crocs. Sorry, Crocs. Nothing against your brand. I find it a lazy shoe.”
Several celebrities would disagree, including Justin Bieber, who recently collaborated with Crocs via his Drew House loungewear brand, Bad Bunny, who made glow in the dark charms for his collab, Post Malone, and K-pop stars TXT — all of whom are big fans of the brand and its comfortable vibes.
Crocs first appeared on the retail scene in 2002, and they were generally not a favorite of the fashion set until a few years ago when the athleisure trend blew up and people began caring more about comfort. The foam footwear comes in a plethora of colors and styles, and with the purchase of Jibbitz charms, Crocs gave its fans even more chance to express themselves via their shoes. And while they were unequivocally the most hated on shoe for a while, things are starting to change and we’re seeing more and more people embracing the clog…
Which side are you on? Are you Team Naomi, and think Crocs are a “lazy shoe?” Or are you a Crocs fan with multiple pairs to suit your moods, plus different charms to change up the look?
