Update, 3/15/21: Earlier today, Ree published a long update on her husband and nephew’s conditions over on her site. She clarified that while both mens’ injuries were quite serious, Ladd and Caleb are going to be OK. She wrote part:
Caleb broke some ribs, had a pretty bad concussion, and a few other injuries that will heal. Ladd…broke his neck in two places—and evidently one of the two fractures was very close to being catastrophic. Have I mentioned cowboys don’t like to admit when they’re hurt? Ladd was transferred to Tulsa and had surgery to stabilize one of the fractures. Thanks to some rods and other hardware (and an amazing neurosurgeon named Dr. Kalani), it’s fixed now and that danger is over.
She went on to say that Ladd will have to wear a neck brace for their daughter’s upcoming wedding, but that “the girls and I will bling out the brace for Alex’s wedding…but we are just grateful he will be here for Alex’s wedding.”

Original post, 3/12/21: Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond‘s husband and nephew are in the hospital following a truck collision that happened earlier this week in Oklahoma. Both her husband Ladd and nephew Caleb were driving Himmat Fire Trucks to respond to fires in the area before colliding, according to accident reports. She said they are both expected to be okay.
According to reports obtained by PEOPLE, the accident took place on Wednesday afternoon and was caused by visibility issues from high winds on a gravel road they were driving on. The trucks hit one another head-on and neither of the drivers were wearing a seatbelt. Caleb Drummond was ejected approximately 70 feet from the point of rest, the report stated, and was admitted to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK, in critical condition with head, arm, leg, and internal injuries.

Yesterday morning, Ree, posted on her Facebook page giving fans and followers a brief update on Ladd and Caleb’s condition, confirming that both of them will likely be fine.
“I want to thank you all for your prayers for our family. Caleb and Ladd are in the hospital, but we think they will both be okay,” she wrote. “As a family we are giving thanks today, knowing things could have been much worse. Thank you all for your love and kindness. It means a lot.”
Ladd and Caleb were apparently responding to fires in the northeast Oklahoma area and it has been reported that the flames were making their way onto the property of the Drummond family farm.
