Russell Westbrook passes Wilt Chamberlain for triple double record


Westbrook scored 18 points and went 4-18 from the field in Oklahoma City’s win.

Westbrook passed Wilt Chamberlain for the record with Monday’s performance. Chamberlain tallied nine-straight triple doubles in 1968.

The Thunder point guard averaged 19.7 points, 12.3 rebounds and 13.8 assists over the 10-game streak. Oklahoma City is 9–1 in the span.

Westbrook wasn’t the only Thunder player to notch a triple-double on Monday. Paul George erupted for his own triple double, dropping 47 points in Oklahoma City’s win to go along with 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

Oklahoma City is third in the West at 36–19. Westbrook will look for his 11th straight triple double Thursday as the Thunder face the Pelicans in New Orleans.
