Selena Gomez Is Almost Done With Her Next Album
That’s right, after four years, the 26-year-old performer confirmed she’s almost ready to drop an album full of new music. In an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Selena said the project has been in the works since 2015, and it’s taken her until now to “feel at a good place” with her new music.
Selena noted that major events in her life, including her lupus diagnosis and kidney transplant, have been an important part of the music-making process, and she wanted to make sure she captured those life-changing moments on her new album.
“I have to do, like, a few finishing things with it, but I’m just relieved,” she told Jimmy. “It took me four years now to even feel at a good place with this album, and it’s just because I had such huge moments that happened in my life personally that [it was like] how was I going to capture that and how was I actually going to feel good about what I was saying? So, I kept going, and I’m relieved now.”
Although she hasn’t released an album since 2015’s “Revival,” Selena has been hard at work collaborating with artists like Cardi B and J Balvin on songs like “I Can’t Get Enough,” and “Taki Taki”, and working on a few solo singles, including “Wolves” in 2017 and “Back to You” in 2018.
She’s also spent the past four years working on several films, including 2019’s “The Dead Don’t Die.” It’s currently TBD if zombies make an appearance in any of her upcoming music videos.
A release date for Selena’s new album has yet to be confirmed, but we’re secretly hoping the singer will take pity on us and drop a new single soon. After all, we could use a good summer bop as we head into July.
