Listen to Caribou’s dreamy gem ‘You And I’ from new album ‘Suddenly’

Caribou has shared new single ‘You And I’, the first track from new album ‘Suddenly’. Check it out below.

Due for release on February 28 next year, ‘Suddenly’ is Dan Snaith’s first new album since 2014’s acclaimed ‘Our Love’. After sharing the soulful ‘Home’ back in October, Snaith has dropped the second taste of the new LP with the kaleidoscopic, dreamy and expansive ‘You And I’.

“‘You and I’ was one of the first tracks on the album that I started and one of the last tracks I finished – it existed in some form or other throughout the whole arc of making the record,” said Snaith. “It also captures a lot of what the record, and the title of the album, are about – the track changes suddenly and unpredictably and it is about a change in my life that happened out of the blue.”

Speaking of his struggles in making the record, Snaith continued: .“For the last few albums at least, there’s been a point about three quarters of the way through where I work late into the night (as usual) but when I try and go to bed, ideas keep forcing me to get up and go back to the studio again.

“It happens over and over in one night. I can feel the gears whirring as I lie there trying to sleep and I can’t ignore the ideas for fear that it will be gone when I wake up the next morning”.

As part of his extensive UK and European tour for summer 2020, Caribou will also be appearing with Tame Impala at London’s All Points East Festival on Saturday May 23. Visit here for tickets and more information.

Dua Lipa Announces New Album Future Nostalgia

Dua Lipa has announced her new album. Future Nostalgia is out next year, though a release date hasn’t yet been confirmed. The news comes with a string of European tour dates. Find dates on her website, and buy tickets here. (Pitchfork may earn a commission from purchases made through affiliate links on our site.).

She says of the album:

What I wanted to do with this album was to break out of my comfort
zone and challenge myself to make music that felt like it could sit
alongside some of my favorite classic pop songs, whilst still feeling
fresh and uniquely mine. I was inspired by so many artists on the new
record from Gwen Stefani to Madonna to Moloko to Blondie and Outkast,
to name just a few. Because of the time that I’d spent on the road
touring with my band I wanted Future Nostalgia to have a lot more of a
live element, but mixed together with modern electronic production. My
sound has naturally matured a bit as I’ve grown up but I wanted to
keep the same pop sensibility as I had on the first record. I remember
that I was on my way to a radio show in Las Vegas thinking about the
direction for this new record and I realized that what I wanted to
make was something that felt nostalgic but had something fresh and
futuristic about it too.

Dua Lipa shared the Future Nostalgia single “Don’t Start Now” in late October. Behind her self-titled debut, which came out in 2017, she won Best New Artist at the Grammys, where she duetted “MASSEDUCTION” with St. Vincent.

Travis Scott announces new album ‘Jack Boys’ along with some very strange merch

Travis Scott has announced the release of ‘Jack Boys’, the debut studio album from his creative outfit of the same name, along with some unusual accompanying merchandise.

The album is set to be released in December, and includes guest appearances from DJ Chase B, Sheck Wes, Don Toliver, and more.

‘Jack Boys’ includes recent single ‘Highest In The Room’, Scott’s first solo material since releasing his acclaimed 2018 album ‘Astroworld’. Since then, he’s featured on several artist’s songs, including Post Malone’s ‘Take What You Want’ (which also featured a scene-stealing turn by Ozzy Osbourne), Ed Sheeran’s ‘Antisocial’, and ‘Power is Power’ for an album of music inspired by Game Of Thrones.

Scott also recently released a documentary ‘Look Mom I Can Fly’, which premiered on Netflix in August.

Prior to the album’s release, Scott has shared an exclusive merch capsule for ‘Jack Boys’ to tie in with Black Friday. As well as some more traditional merch, the items on offer include a rolling tray, a duffle bag, a blanket, a rug, an electric scooter, and a “reality robe”. The merch is available for purchase now at Scott’s website. Watch the trippy video for ‘Highest In The Room’ below.

Last month (October 10) Scott was confirmed as one of the headliners of Lollapalooza South America 2020, alongside The Strokes and Guns N’ Roses.

The country-hopping festival will visit Argentina, Chile and Brazil in the spring, with the Argentinean (in Buenos Aires) and Chilean (Santiago) legs taking place from March 27-29, 2020. The final leg, in Brazil (São Paulo), will take place over 3-5 April, 2020.

Dua Lipa Reveals Title of Her Second Studio Album

Get ready, Dua Lipa fans — the singer-songwriter has officially unveiled her upcoming album title, and it’s written in ink.

Early on December 1, Dua posted a bikini pic to Instagram with the caption “SWIPE FOR ALBUM TITLE.” Sure enough, the next photo in the series is a closeup of one of her tattoos, which reads “Future Nostalgia” — AKA the name of her second studio album, which is scheduled to drop sometime in 2020. The ink itself is located on the inside of her upper arm, with the words drawn in tight, slanted script, making it a tad hard to read.

Nevertheless, anticipation for her sophomore album is undoubtedly at an all-time high, especially after Dua released her brand-new single “Don’t Start Now” earlier this month.

Sure enough, Dua’s fans are freaking out over the announcement. “I’VE GOT THE FEELING THIS PROBABLY GOING BE ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS OF 2020,” one person tweeted, while another fan exclaimed: “ITS OUR TIME DUA NATION!” Some fans joked about the tiny font of Dua’s tattoo, while others just relied on reaction gifs and videos to capture their excitement.

As noted by Metro, Dua had been dropping hints about the album’s “nostalgic” feel, telling reporters on the MTV EMAs red carpet that her upcoming album is “quite nostalgic [with] disco elements, but I wanted it to sound fresh, new and still current,” adding that she’s been “experimenting and having fun.” With that, it seems as though some fans had previously guessed the title — especially since the tattoo was right in front of our eyes the entire time!

Future Nostalgia is the follow-up to Dua’s debut self-titled studio album, which was released in 2017. If her previous music is any indication, it seems like we have a lot to look forward to next year. Here’s hoping Future Nostalgia is an early 2020 drop!

Pete Townshend wanted Roger Daltrey to rap on The Who’s new album

Roger Daltrey has claimed that one of the demos Pete Townshend sent him while they were working on The Who‘s new album included rapping, with the guitarist suggesting that Daltrey could perform the part on record.

In an interview with Rolling Stone on Monday (November 25), the singer explained that he was less than impressed with the version of ‘All This Music Must Fade’ that Townshend had sent him. “I hated [the song] at first,” he explained.

“On the demo, he had some rapping on it,” Daltrey added. “Well, no fucking way I’m going to rap. No way. Let the youngsters wear those clothes.” Listen to the track below, which includes the line, “I don’t care, I know you’re gonna hate this song” – but no rapping.

The interview caused controversy for other reasons when, asked about his late bandmates Keith Moon and John Entwistle, Townshend replied: “It’s not going to make Who fans very happy, but thank God they’re gone.”

The guitarist later apologised to the Moon and Entwistle families in a Facebook post, saying the headlines didn’t tell the whole story of the interview.

“No one can ever know how much I miss Keith and John, as people, as friends and as musicians,” Townshend wrote. “The alchemy we used to share in the studio is missing from the new album, and it always feels wrong to try to summon it up without them.”

In a four-star review of The Who’s latest album, NME said: “‘WHO’ either recaptures the band’s root ferocity or explores new territory with style: the smoky tango of ‘She Rocked My World’, with Daltrey growling like Tom Waits on Viagra, or ‘Break The News’, a folk rocker with a contemporary Mumford crunch. Keep denying that curtain, boys, we’ll tell you when you finally get old.”
