Taylor Swift Is Teasing Something and Fans Think It Involves Her Old Music

Taylor Swift is definitely up to something.

After letting the world know that she’s begun re-recording all of her old music, Taylor popped onto social media on Sunday, November 22 to tease fans even more. “Not a lot going on at the moment,” she wrote on Twitter and Instagram alongside a black-and-white photo where she’s posing on the couch in comfy clothes, a bored expression on her face.

If her caption sounds a little familiar, it’s because she’s said it before. Fans were quick to recall the last time she told her followers that she didn’t have “a lot going on” — it was back in April, when she shared a selfie with the same exact words. At the time, it seemed pretty innocuous and fairly relatable; after all, it was just a few weeks after the coronavirus pandemic hit and much of the country had been under lockdown. But in retrospect, the post is a humorous “gotcha!” because, as we know now, Taylor had been working on folklore during that time. Taylor’s version of “not a lot going on” seems to translate to actually quite a bit going on, including being hard at work on something magical for her fans, so her recent post certainly sent Swifties into an excited frenzy.

As for what Taylor is working on, fans have some ideas there too. Some people have pointed out that Taylor wears a “Not a lot going on at the moment” shirt in the “22” music video (and, ahem, today is the 22nd of November — her mind!) while others think she could be working on an “Exile” music video, as she previously talked about Bon Iver having “a thing” with the number 22. The possibilities are truly endless, honestly.

And these aren’t the only theories Swifties have cooked up lately. Given that Taylor has acknowledged she’s been re-recording her old songs, some fans have begun to suspect that she’s currently hard at work on revisiting her iconic album Red — and her recent hairstyle might be the clue to put it all together. The “cardigan” singer recently showed off long, straight hair with whimsical bangs, and the vibe is very reminiscent of her 2012 look. As one fan put it: “This is Taylor Swift re-recording RED, and you can’t convince me otherwise.”

With that theory comes a whole slew of questions. After all, Taylor previously hinted that the updated versions of her old songs will include “plenty of surprises,” but what does that mean? New lyrics? Revamped bridges? The legendary 10-minute version of “All Too Well?!” TBH I’m not sure I could emotionally handle that, but I’m willing to try. One thing is for sure: Taylor Alison Swift definitely has a lot going on at the moment, and fans are here for it, every step of the way.
