How old are you?

My name is Vanessa, I just turned 17 years old in February 2020, and am just shy of 100,000 followers on my Instagram account!

What are a few ways that you have grown your following so big?

I started taking social media, or much rather Instagram seriously around eight months ago. People had often told me to start trying to expand my Instagram reach because they thought I was really pretty, and that they were really inspired by some of my outfits, or that they would just like to see more of my personal life. There was not one certain day where I started. You can’t just choose to start growing your account, there are many steps that lead up to it.

If I’m honest, there aren’t really that many things I did that made my following grow, it just kicked off, and the aftermath came falling like dominoes.

It started with a pretty large page reposting me, they usually post baddies (girls that are cute, and hot). Usually, these pages will have networks of their own, and will follow each other and will also see what the other pages are posting and choose to go with the flow.

This means, one page posting me turned into two, then three and so on and so forth. Yesterday I had 7 pages posting me, which still help me to grow even though I am almost at 100k followers.

Do you have a certain criteria for what your post o n social media? If so why?

I only post content that is relevant to my other content which is mostly just me in different outfits, perhaps promoting a brand that has organized me to promote their clothing to a broader audience.

Sometimes, I don’t post for a few days, and that’s because I watch out for quality. I could post a picture every single day but my motto has always been “quality over quantity”. It seems to have worked out well for me.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m still visiting school as of right now, but I’m not too sure what to do after it. I’m hoping I could make this influencer lifestyle profitable enough for me to live off of. My plans for the future as for my Instagram account are to branch out in as many niches as possible that interest me, in order to appeal to as many people as possible.

I plan on traveling a lot and also plan on posting travel vlogs on my IGTV. My dream would to actually become a travel blogger and transform what I have right now, into a tool that can help me travel and document it on Instagram.

Do you have any advice for teens in your field?

As for tips that I have for young people trying to start or gain traction on social media. All I can say is stay on track, don’t give up, and eventually you will find people that are interested in you, and what you do. And it won’t just be one or two people. It will be a lot! You just have to keep on doing what you’re doing, in order to show people that you’re there to stay.

As for the rest of it, you should post community guideline friendly stuff, therefore increasing your chances of going viral on the explore page.

I really hope I could help,

Vanessa 🦋
