Before coming to the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Kate Strangfeld, Ed.M.’22, taught science for eight years in Washington D.C. and, before that, went to a health-supportive culinary school in New York. Intersecting her two interests — food and education — she started Bite Scized Education to engage secondary students in science. Strangfeld, and her team at Bite Scized, produce videos and create supplementary curriculum for teachers and educators. The materials are accessible, encourage experimentation, and connect lessons to everyday life. Their goal is to empower students to “think like a scientist” through food and cooking.
