UConn claims top spot ahead of Big East tournament

In a flash, the April 19 selection date for the Division I national tournament is nearly here.

For New England-based teams to qualify, the easiest path is securing an automatic berth by winning their conference tournament. There will be at-large spots available across the 48-team field, but those typically go to power-five programs.

Given that framework, mid-April conference tournaments are soon beginning or have already commenced. It’s crunch time for local teams, with several occupying contender status despite reduced conference tournament fields this spring.

Here’s the latest top 10 ranking, including some reshuffling at the top.
